Third Engineer

Job Summary:

The Third Engineer is a key member of the MACNA team, responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our marine vessels. This role requires a high level of technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and excellent communication abilities.

Responsibilities:

• Maintenance Planning: Collaborate with the Chief Engineer to develop and implement maintenance plans, ensuring that all necessary work is completed on schedule and within budget.
• Machinery Operations: Oversee the operation of all marine machinery, including engines, pumps, and other equipment, to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
• Repair and Maintenance: Lead repair and maintenance efforts for all marine equipment, including deck equipment, to ensure that all systems are functioning properly.
• Spare Parts Management: Ensure that spare parts are properly stocked and maintained to minimize downtime and reduce costs.
• Reporting and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities, including reporting any abnormalities or issues to the Chief Engineer.
• Tool and Store Management: Oversee the proper care and maintenance of tools and stores, ensuring that all equipment is in good working order.
• Engine Room and Bilge Maintenance: Ensure that the engine room and bilges are kept clean and dry, and that all safety equipment is properly maintained.
• Training and Development: Actively understudy the Chief Engineer and assist with training and development of junior engineers.
• Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE): Maintain awareness of QHSE procedures and ensure that all activities are conducted in accordance with company policies and regulations.

Requirements:

• Experience: At least 2 years of experience as a Third Engineer in a similar role.
• Certifications: Valid STCW COC certificate, English Marlins test, and Covid-19 Certificate.
• Language: English language proficiency.
• Education: Relevant technical education or training.
