Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Climate Modelling

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced postdoctoral researcher to join our team at the University of Bergen. The successful candidate will work on developing a higher resolution version of the Norwegian Earth System Model, focusing on the interaction between the North Atlantic, Nordic Seas, and Arctic.
About the Project
The Nansen Legacy project, funded by the Research Council of Norway, aims to make an integrated assessment of climate and ecosystem change in the Barents Seas. The postdoctoral position will be associated with this project and will involve close collaboration with the developers of the Norwegian Earth System and Climate Prediction Models.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a higher resolution version of the Norwegian Earth System Model
- Study variability and predictability of climate in the Arctic-to-Atlantic sector
- Collaborate with the developers of the Norwegian Earth System and Climate Prediction Models
Requirements
- PhD in mathematics, physics, meteorology, oceanography, climate dynamics, or a relevant discipline
- Strong background in applied mathematics and numerical modelling
- Experience with high-performance computing and programming skills in Fortran, Matlab, or Python
- Understanding of climate dynamics and predictability
