About the Role

RINA seeks a skilled Classification Surveyor to join its team in Alesund, Norway. The successful candidate will be responsible for verifying that vessels meet international and classification society standards.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Technical Expertise: Provide expert technical advice to clients and shipowners on classification, design, construction, and maintenance. Stay up-to-date with the latest industry technologies and innovations.
  2. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to classification society rules, international regulations, and statutory requirements during surveys and inspections.
  3. Problem-Solving: Address technical issues and challenges during surveys and provide practical solutions to clients.
  4. Quality Assurance: Implement quality assurance measures in survey processes to ensure accuracy and reliability in inspection reports.
  5. Client Education: Educate clients on classification society processes and the importance of compliance for safety and operational efficiency.
  6. Documentation and Reporting: Develop and maintain standardized templates for inspection reports, ensuring consistency and clarity.
  7. Collaboration and Teamwork: Collaborate with colleagues to share knowledge and best practices.
  8. Continuous Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with industry standards and best practices.
  9. Ethical Conduct: Uphold the highest ethical standards in all professional interactions.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree in Naval Engineering
  • Minimum 3 years experience as a Junior Surveyor or 5 years experience in the engineering or survey fields within the marine industry
  • Proficiency in English
  • Ability to develop a working knowledge of RINA Rules and Guides
  • Ability to understand engineering plans and shipbuilding practices
  • Ability to perform new building surveys and ship in service surveys
  • Knowledge of ships' engineering systems and machinery
  • Knowledge of computer programs or software packages related to job responsibilities
  • Knowledge of related technical interfaces required for group project work
