1X is a pioneering company at the forefront of developing advanced humanoid robots designed for household use. Our mission is to create an abundant supply of labor via safe, intelligent humanoids. As we transition from research and development to full-scale manufacturing, we seek an experienced Materials Engineer to join our team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop 1X's material capabilities end-to-end, from research to testing and production.
  • Research and specify metal alloys for low and high volume production.
  • Define Design for Manufacturing guidelines for die casting, forging, etc. with the R&D Engineering team.
  • Work closely with the Supply Chain team to ensure engineering specifications are met.
Requirements
  • Strong knowledge in metal alloys.
  • Strong knowledge in mechanical behavior of materials and manufacturing.
  • Experience with high strength composites and plastics.
  • Experience with corrosion protection and electrical continuity in structures.
  • Knowledge in serial-manufacturing friendly materials and manufacturing methods.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with CAD.
  • Experience with structural FEA.
  • Experience in designing robots, understanding of kinematics and dynamics of robotics systems.
  • Understanding of highly dynamic environments where balancing competing priorities and timelines is needed.
