>The Role
We are looking for a skilled Mainframe CICS system programmer with 5 years or more of relevant experience. As a CICS z/OS programmer at Kyndryl, you will have the opportunity to shape the very foundation of the technology that drives our world. Your work will involve developing, testing, and maintaining software that controls a computer's operating system, hardware, and other systems software. You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, reliability, and security of CICS systems in a mainframe environment.
Your Responsibilities
- Develop and test CICS transactions and programs
- Ensure the smooth operation, reliability, and security of CICS systems in a mainframe environment
- Perform incident resolution, debugging, and troubleshooting
- Apply software updates and system patches
- Optimize CICS applications for maximum performance and efficiency
- Analyze system performance metrics and identify bottlenecks
- Tune CICS parameters and configuration settings
- Implement security measures to protect CICS systems and data from unauthorized access
- Monitor for security threats and vulnerabilities
- Manage CICS resources, such as regions, transactions, and storage
- Keep up-to-date with the latest CICS technologies, best practices, and industry trends
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to collaborate with other IT professionals, communicate technical information clearly, and work effectively in a team environment
- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks at the same time
- Performance tuning expertise: ability to optimize CICS applications for maximum performance and efficiency
- Security awareness: understanding of security best practices and ability to implement measures to protect CICS systems from vulnerabilities
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience with other mainframe technologies: knowledge of other mainframe systems, such as DB2, IMS, IDMS, and JCL, can be beneficial
