Your Role

As our new Senior Technical Safety Engineer, you will be integrated into a robust team of over 20 Safety Engineers, collaborating closely with colleagues across various countries. The team comprises a balanced mix of junior and senior professionals engaged in diverse, stimulating projects within the Green Energy transition, including the development of cleaner fuels such as hydrogen, methanol, and ammonia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate quantitative risk assessments (QRA) and fire and explosion risk assessments (FERA) utilizing QRA software (PHAST/SAFETI).
  • Create guidelines, tools, and templates related to quantitative risk assessments (QRA) and fire and explosion risk assessments (FERA).
  • Develop capabilities and resources for dispersion modeling and fire/explosion modeling using commercial CFD software (FLACS/InFlux) in the context of QRA and FERA.
  • Prepare safety documentation throughout the engineering phases of projects (process safety and technical safety).
  • Engage in safety workshops for projects (including HAZID, HAZOP, and LOPA workshops).
  • Assess risks and risk mitigation measures in accordance with the ALARP principle on projects.

About You

  • A Master's or Bachelor's degree in engineering or a natural science field (e.g., Physics, Mathematics, Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemistry).
  • Relevant experience as a Technical Safety Engineer, preferably within the Energy sector.
  • Strong understanding of mathematical modeling of physical phenomena (e.g., fire and explosion scenarios) and frequency modeling (e.g., event-tree analysis).
  • Proven experience in conducting, leading, and coordinating quantitative risk assessments (QRA) and fire and explosion risk assessments (FERA).
  • Familiarity with relevant QRA software (e.g., DNV PHAST/SAFETI, Shell FRED, or Gexcon Effects/Risk Curves).
  • Experience in dispersion modeling and fire/explosion modeling using commercial CFD software (e.g., Gexcon FLACS and Insight Numerics InFlux).
  • Background in safety documentation during project engineering (e.g., safety philosophies, HAZID, and HAZOP).
  • Knowledge of the legislative framework for major accident hazards (e.g., Seveso directive and COMAH directive).
  • Experience in liaising with regulatory authorities (e.g., HSE in the UK, DSB in Norway, and equivalents).
