About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Softgoods Engineer to join our team at 1X, a leading innovator in humanoid robotics. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing softgoods designs for our robots.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop soft polymers, silicone, and textile parts for our robots
  • Collaborate with the hardware team to bridge aesthetics and functionality of softgoods parts
  • Define manufacturing methods and evaluate suppliers with our Supply Chain team
  • Build Softgoods as a core competence in the company long term
Requirements
  • Experience designing and building softgoods products
  • Expert in CAD (Solidworks preferred)
  • Experience working with surfacing, complex geometry, organic designs, or topology optimization
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing techniques for mid and high volume
  • Experience selecting soft polymers for consumer products
  • Understanding of highly dynamic environments where balancing competing priorities and timelines is needed
Nice-to-Have Skills
  • Experience bringing complex products from concept to production
  • Experience in hand/end-effector design, especially tactile sensors integration
  • Experience in clothing design
