As a Global Governance Specialist with Spektrum, you will play a critical role in supporting NATO's strategic objectives through the development of realistic exercise scenarios. Your expertise in international law will enable you to provide subject matter guidance on complex legal issues, ensuring that training audiences are exposed to a coherent and accurate national legal framework.

The NATO Joint Warfare Centre (JWC) is a key component of NATO's operational planning process, responsible for improving the Alliance's capabilities through training and exercises. As a member of the EXCON staff, you will work closely with military and civilian personnel from various backgrounds to establish the conditions needed for successful exercise execution.

**Exercise Control Structure**

The EXCON structure is designed to be flexible and adaptable to the specific requirements of each exercise phase. As a Strategic Legal Advisor, you will work closely with the Exercise Control team to ensure that all legal matters related to the affected nation are properly coordinated and represented throughout the exercise scenario.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Provide subject matter expertise on strategic legal issues related to the affected nation.
  • Ensure that training audiences are exposed to a realistic and coherent national legal framework.
  • Act as the focal point for all strategic legal matters pertaining to the affected nation during exercise preparation and execution.

**Essential Skills and Experience**

  • Demonstrate 3 years' experience in influencing national policy making at strategic level in the field of International Law.
  • Demonstrate 3 years' experience in briefing senior leaders/decision makers at the governance level in a National or Multinational environment.
  • Demonstrate 3 years' experience in support of Exercise Planning and Execution on NATO Operational level (or at equivalent level in other organizations).

**Education and Language Requirements**

  • A Master's Degree in International Law is required.
  • Proficiency in Business English is essential.
