Overview of the Position

This PhD position is available at the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering with the RAMS research group. The project aims to develop new knowledge for modeling, analyzing, and controlling the cascading process from natural events to offshore accidents that threaten human safety and the environment.

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Professor Yiliu Liu and will be part of a multidisciplinary team. As a PhD Candidate, you will gain valuable experience and qualify yourself for a further career in higher education and research.

Job Description
  • Complete a doctoral education until obtaining a doctorate.
  • Review the state-of-the-art green transition technologies in the offshore industry.
  • Investigate the technical vulnerabilities and build the cascading process of specific NATECH events in the offshore industry.
  • Develop indicators and algorithms for analyzing the frequency and impact of typical NATECH events.
  • Develop a risk-informed multidisciplinary decision-making method for the offshore industry and illustrate the effectiveness of such a method with case studies.
