Electronics Researcher for ALICE Experiment

The University of Bergen invites applications for a PhD research fellow position in microelectronics, focusing on the development of advanced detector systems for the ALICE experiment at CERN. The successful candidate will contribute to the design and implementation of programmable circuits and system design for the FoCal calorimeter upgrade.
">The role involves working independently and collaboratively as part of the Department of Physics and Technology team. Strong programming skills, particularly in VHDL, Python, and C++, are required, along with practical experience in Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) based electronic systems in radiation environments.
Key qualifications include a master's degree in microelectronics or physics with specialization in electronics, and relevant experience from the industry is an advantage. Excellent written and oral English skills are essential for effective communication within the team and with international collaborators.
The fellowship is for 3 years, with the possibility of a 4th year with career-promoting work. As a PhD Research Fellow, you must participate in an approved educational programme for a PhD degree within a period of 3 years.
