Job DescriptionWe are looking for a skilled and motivated Field Service Engineer to join our team in Norway or Finland – a key role ensuring the reliability and performance of our optical and ophthalmic equipment across hospitals, clinics, and optician practices.
What You'll Do
As a Service Technician / Field Service Engineer, you will be on the front line of our customer operations – installing, maintaining, calibrating, and repairing advanced optical and ophthalmic diagnostic equipment. You will provide technical support both on-site and remotely, ensuring our devices perform at their best and deliver accurate results to eye care professionals.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Installation, preventive maintenance, calibration, and repair of diagnostic and clinical instruments.
- Troubleshooting and proactive servicing to minimize downtime.
- Providing emergency maintenance and on-site technical support.
- Supporting product demonstrations and helping customers integrate Topcon solutions into their workflows.
- Maintaining accurate documentation and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Managing your own service schedule and spare parts inventory efficiently while representing Topcon with professionalism and care.
Who You Are
You are a self-driven, analytical, and customer-focused professional who thrives in a field-based role and takes pride in delivering exceptional service.
You will:
- Take ownership of your work and follow through on commitments.
- Remain calm, composed, and solution-oriented under pressure.
- Communicate clearly with customers and colleagues.
- Build trust and long term relationships with healthcare professionals.
- Work independently while being an active and supportive team player.
- Adapt easily to changing environments and travel requirements.
- Combine technical precision with a genuine passion for helping others.
- Demonstrate integrity, reliability, and attention to detail in all you do.
- A technical or vocational qualification in Electronics, Biomedical Technology, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in field service, maintenance, or technical support – ideally within medical devices, optical systems, or precision instruments.
- Solid understanding of IT systems, software integration, and networking (Windows, SQL, network protocols).
- Proven ability to read and interpret technical manuals, circuit diagrams, and service documentation.
- Experience using service management systems (e.g., SAP or similar).
- Fluent in English (written and spoken); proficiency in another Nordic language is an advantage.
- Further education in IT or optical engineering and familiarity with regulatory standards (ISO, MDR) will be considered beneficial.
If you're ready to combine your technical expertise with meaningful work that supports healthcare professionals across Norway or Finland — we'd love to hear from you.
Please indicate your preferred work location (Norway or Finland) when applying.
