CTO - Lipscore
We're looking for a Chief Technology Officer to guide Lipscore into its next phase of international expansion and product evolution. With a strong ARR base and operations in NO, SE, FI, PL, NL, UK, and the US, Lipscore is ready to scale-but our technology foundation must scale with us. This role requires a CTO who is equally comfortable defining long-term strategy and getting hands-on with code, architecture, infrastructure, and process improvement. You will play a critical role in modernising our tech stack, integrating AI/LLMs into both product and internal workflows, and elevating our security and compliance posture.
What We're Looking For
This is a unique opportunity to reshape the future of Ratings & Reviews at a decisive stage in our growth. You are customer-focused and value collaboration with Product, Sales, Customer Success, and external partners. You bring a builder's mindset-curious, pragmatic, and deeply technical. You understand what a scaling SaaS platform needs because you've rolled up your sleeves and built those foundations before.
You're excited by the challenge of taking a small but experienced team and guiding it toward a high-performing, product-led engineering organization. You don't expect a perfectly mature stack or spotless processes; you thrive in environments where improvement is needed and where the impact of your leadership will be immediately visible.
About Lipscore
Founded in 2014, Lipscore quickly became the leading ratings and reviews platform in the Nordics. We were born from frustration with overly complicated feedback solutions, and we remain committed to simplifying review collection both in-store and online.
Our value proposition
Maximizing customer reviews with an industry-leading response rate
Authentic reviews from verified purchasers
Insights that improve conversions and enable data-driven decisions
The Role
As CTO, you will join the senior Management Team and take ownership of all technology, architecture, and platform operations at Lipscore. You will lead a distributed team of engineers and drive the transition from a consultant-driven team to a scalable, product-focused engineering organisation.
You will collaborate with Product, Sales, and Customer Success to ensure we deliver reliable, secure, and scalable solutions, while driving a strong culture of innovation grounded in technical excellence, not buzzwords.
This role balances strategy with hands-on technical leadership. You will shape the roadmap-but you will also review code, guide architectural decisions, improve DevOps practices, and evaluate our transition away from Heroku.
As CTO, Your Responsibilities Will Include Technology & Architecture
Define and execute a long-term technology roadmap aligned with Lipscore's business goals
Stay close to implementation-review code, understand bottlenecks, and guide architectural choices
Modernize and streamline our current stack (Ruby on Rails core app, integrations app, Postgres, MongoDB, Redis)
Lead the migration away from Heroku to a more scalable, cost-effective platform
AI & Platform Innovation
Drive an AI-first approach where it genuinely accelerates value-across the product, engineering processes, and customer workflows
Integrate LLMs into review analytics, moderation tools, internal operations, and product innovation
Security, Compliance & Reliability
Own platform security, data protection, and compliance for markets across Europe and the US
Ensure compliance with GDPR, the EU Data Act, and upcoming regulations such as the CRA
Strengthen monitoring, observability, and operational maturity
Team Leadership & Culture
Lead and scale a distributed engineering team-initially blending consultants with new hires
Introduce structure, standards, and engineering best practices suited for a growing SaaS company
Collaborate closely with Product Management to accelerate delivery and improve team velocity
Champion a DevOps culture, continuous delivery, and pragmatic iteration
Stakeholder & External Representation
Represent Lipscore's technology strategy to key customers, partners, investors, and the board
Support enterprise sales by articulating our architecture, security posture, and scalability vision
Our Current Technical Landscape
Two main applications on Heroku: Core Ruby on Rails app & integrations app
Databases: PostgreSQL, MongoDB Atlas
Caching & Queues: Redis
Frontend: JavaScript widget embedded across customer sites
Integrations: Shopify, Magento, WooCommerce, and other ecommerce platforms
Cloud Migration: We aim to leave Heroku for a modern, scalable cloud environment
Who You Are
Experience leading engineering or product teams in a SaaS environment
Strong technical background and the ability to personally engage with code, architecture, and infrastructure decisions
Hands-on experience building and scaling cloud-native, API-first platforms
Familiarity with Ruby, , and modern DevOps tooling a plus
Comfortable building structure; experience elevating engineering maturity
Empathetic, direct, and pragmatic leadership style
Strong communicator comfortable engaging customers, partners, and boards
Experience with AI/ML or LLM-driven products is a significant plus
