Oslo, Oslo County, Norway ElBits Full time

Are you ready to build the legal engine to support a smarter and safer grid?

ElBits
is an ambitious collaboration among Norway's grid companies aimed at driving change in the power grid industry. We achieve this by integrating and standardising data and processes, as well as developing digital products. Our goal is to create a digital infrastructure that will enable the sector to
increase grid capacity and efficiency
, as well as
streamline and improve customer journeys.

With our partnerships, deep industry expertise, and access to critical data, we are uniquely positioned to innovate and address the challenges of today's energy systems. By making data accessible and enabling collaboration, we unlock the grid industry's potential. Together, we contribute to solving one of the greatest challenges of our time -
the energy transition.

At ElBits
, we are building critical digital services for the Norwegian power sector. These are services that depend on trust, clarity, and an integrated approach to
legal and operational risk.
As our products scale across grid companies and our data volumes grow, having
robust legal frameworks is more important than ever.

We are now hiring a
Legal Advisor
who can combine
pragmatic problem-solving with strong commercial judgement
. This role will help
build agreement structures that safeguard both legal requirements and our own interests
. This includes working with data, domain, and product teams to ensure agreements with grid companies and other partners are structured correctly, aligned with our services, and integrated into our products.

Until now, we have relied on external partners, internal support, and agencies for legal work. Moving forward, we want to
strengthen our internal legal capability
, particularly where legal and security intersect, while also standardising IT contracts, automating agreement processes, and providing pragmatic guidance across the organisation.

What will you do?

As our
Legal Advisor
, you will ensure that our agreements, contracts, and compliance practices
support both our business goals and regulatory obligations
. You will help teams navigate legal complexities in a way that keeps product development agile while protecting the company's interests.

You will work closely with product, data, and operations teams to
translate legal requirements into practical solutions
. This could mean digitizing agreements within a product workflow, standardizing IT contracts, guiding teams on regulatory obligations, or reviewing procurement processes. Your role is to make legal guidance
actionable and embedded in everyday work
, rather than an external checkpoint.

A key part of your work will be to
turn legal complexity into business opportunity
. Instead of merely reviewing agreements, you will proactively identify where regulation, procurement processes, and contractual structures can unlock new value for ElBits and our partners.

Ultimately, you will act as a
pragmatic problem-solver for the business
, balancing risk and opportunity, enabling teams to move confidently, and strengthening ElBits' legal foundation and best practices.

What you will be responsible for:

  • Turn legal complexity into business opportunity
by spotting where regulations, procurement processes, and contractual structures can unlock new commercial value

  • Shape product and business development
by bringing legal insight into early product discovery, such as leading thinking on our proof of concepts where law and product strategy intersect.

  • Transform procurement into a strategic advantage
for grid companies by strengthening supplier management, commercial structures, and repeatable processes.

  • Draft, negotiate, and strategically structure agreements
with grid companies, vendors, and partners to reinforce ElBits' long-term positioning.

  • Advise product teams
on the legal implications of features, data usage, service workflows, and platform behavior, enabling faster and safer product development.

  • Lead legal aspects of procurement and vendor management
, ensuring contracts, compliance, and risk considerations support operational efficiency and business goals.

  • Build scalable legal frameworks;
templates, guidelines, and processes that reduce friction and help teams move with clarity and confidence.

  • Ensure compliance and audit readiness
with NVE, RME, and relevant data owners while balancing regulatory obligations with pragmatic execution.

  • Collaborate across security, operations, and business teams
to align on legal, risk, preparedness, and commercial considerations.

  • Provide clear, practical legal guidance
by assessing risks, identifying opportunities, and enabling fast decision-making across ElBits' teams.

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a
pragmatic, business-minded legal professional
who can balance risk with opportunity and translate legal considerations into practical, actionable guidance for our product and data teams.

Experience with
IT environments or the energy sector
is highly valuable, as is an understanding of the unique challenges related to technology products and critical infrastructure. Regardless of background, a strong motivation to learn in these areas and to support the digitalization of agreements, compliance processes, and standardization is an advantage.

You most likely have:

  • Legal expertise as a lawyer or legal professional:
You have a relevant degree and are comfortable drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, agreements, and other legal documents, and can guide teams on complex legal matters.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with a pragmatic, hands-on approach:
You thrive on finding solutions that balance risk and business needs. You focus on actionable results rather than theory, helping teams move forward confidently while protecting the company's interests.

  • Experience working in technical environments:
You understand IT systems, software development workflows, and digital products, enabling you to provide relevant guidance on technology contracts, data handling, and product integration.

  • Solid knowledge of business law:
You are familiar with commercial law, contracts, intellectual property, and other business frameworks, and can apply this knowledge to both internal processes and external agreements.

  • Experience with procurement, vendor management, and related legal processes:
You have hands-on experience structuring, reviewing, and managing vendor contracts, procurement procedures, and vendor relationships while ensuring compliance and minimizing risk.

  • Ability to translate legal requirements into practical guidance:
You can communicate complex legal concepts clearly to non-legal colleagues, provide step-by-step guidance, and ensure teams understand and implement legal requirements in their day-to-day work.

While not required, it's an advantage if you have:

  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards:
Familiarity with sector-specific rules such as NEM, ENF, KBF or other energy and infrastructure regulations.

  • Experience working in or with the public sector or energy/grid sector:
Understanding the dynamics of regulated industries, public entities, or critical infrastructure.

  • Exposure to digitalization of agreements or contract automation:
Experience with automating legal workflows, integrating agreements into digital products, or using legal tech tools.

  • Background in consulting or cross-functional advisory roles:
Experience providing practical, hands-on legal guidance to product, data, or operations teams.

What can we offer?

First of all, we want to emphasize the opportunity to shape how legal, commercial, and compliance practices are built inside a fast-moving tech company working with critical energy infrastructure. In this role, you'll work on meaningful, real-world challenges: helping us structure deals, navigate regulations, and build scalable ways of working. You'll collaborate closely with talented product, tech, and operations teams, and
your work will directly influence how Norway's power grid becomes smarter, more resilient, and future-ready.

We also offer:

  • A positive, flexible, and trust-based work environment.

  • To have your work have a great social impact and make a difference in the energy sector.

  • Industry-leading pension and insurance policies.

  • Modern office centrally located at Rådhusgata by Kvadraturen, Oslo.

  • Choice of equipment and other necessary tools to ensure you have everything you need to perform your role effectively.

  • Great colleagues & social events.

What does the process look like?

  • Apply with your CV and contact information.

  • If we find your profile interesting, we'll schedule a short (30-minute) conversation with our Recruitment Advisor.

  • After that, we'll set up a Meet & Greet with our Head of Data & Domain and our Recruitment Advisor.

  • In the second interview, you'll walk us through a case assignment and engage in a deeper discussion about your thinking and experience. We'll also give you more insight into our way of working, and you'll complete a brief personality assessment through Fairsight.

  • The final chat will involve a meeting with our Head of Operations.

  • We do a couple of reference checks and send you an offer

We use Semac for background checks after the final offer to verify the information provided during the process.
