About the role:

We are looking for a strong and experienced Payroll Team Leader to join and strengthen our Norway Payroll delivery team.

The role sits within Infosys Norway's payroll operations, where we are responsible for delivering end-to-end Payroll and HR services for a large Norwegian company with 10,000 employees. The delivery model is global: a lot of activities are offshored and delivered from India, while selected critical and complex tasks are handled locally from Norway (Fornebu).

As Team Leader for the Norway Payroll Team, you will play a key role in ensuring high-quality payroll delivery on activities handled by Norway Team, supporting offshore teams, coordinating local activities, and handling complex Norwegian payroll cases.

The main areas handled by Norway Payroll team are activities in connection with NAV and leaves, Tax cards and tax, pension, A-melding, garnishments and debts collectors follow-up, unions, advising to client and offshore teams on all matters.

You will work closely with and report to the Senior Operations Manager responsible for the overall delivery.

This is a hands-on leadership role, well suited for someone who thrives in a high-paced, multicultural, global delivery environment and who can work independently while taking ownership of both people and processes.

Key responsibilities

  • Payroll delivery & subject-matter ownership
  • Handle complex payroll cases and deviations independently
  • Act as local payroll expert for Norwegian legislation, rules, and best practices
  • Ensure compliance with Norwegian payroll, tax and reporting requirements
  • Ensure timely delivery on dedicated areas: Retirement, AAP, A-melding reporting, tax, unions deduction lists, pension payroll processing and reporting

Team leadership (Norway team)

  • Coordinate daily tasks and workload for the Norway onshore team (currently 3 employees who will report to you)
  • Prioritize activities and ensure timely delivery of critical local tasks
  • Handling queries from employees and HR within your assigned area of responsibility, ensuring timely and accurate resolution.
  • Act as escalation point for complex or sensitive payroll matters
  • Contribute to team development, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement

Offshore collaboration & support

  • Support offshore payroll teams with:
  • Norwegian payroll rules and legislation
  • Case handling and clarifications
  • Complex payroll scenarios and exceptions
  • Ensure smooth collaboration across locations
  • Help translate Norwegian requirements into actionable guidance for offshore teams

Stakeholder & delivery support

  • Support the Senior Operations Manager with:
  • Solving complex payroll and compliance cases
  • Delivery follow-up and operational stability
  • Continuous improvement initiatives
  • Contribute to scaling the payroll delivery model for major new clients expected in the near future.

Required qualifications & experience

  • In-depth knowledge of Norwegian payroll delivery (end-to-end)
  • Proven experience working with complex payroll cases
  • Ability to work independently, structure unclear situations, and take ownership
  • Experience from high-paced operational environments
  • Strong collaboration skills in multicultural and offshore delivery setups
  • Fluent in Norwegian and English (spoken and written)
