About the Role

We are seeking an Engineering Lead for our Data Engineering team. On the Kahoot platform, the data team handles data at a very large scale, with tens of millions of events generated daily across various subsystems.

The Data Team is responsible for building and maintaining the data pipeline and analytics infrastructure that ingests these events into our data warehouse. This infrastructure supports a wide range of analytics functions that enable Finance, Sales, Marketing, Product, and other teams to leverage data in their decision-making processes.

We’re looking for someone with strong engineering skills, logical reasoning, and experience handling large-scale data. This role reports directly to the VP of Engineering.

The role is open for the following locations: Oslo (NO), and Wrocław/Kraków (PL),

Responsibilities
  • Plan, enhance, and develop the data analytics infrastructure and platform at Kahoot
  • Empower all teams at Kahoot with access to data relevant to their roles and domains.
  • Lead and mentor a team of data engineers.
  • Oversee the development of systems that transform raw data into high-quality, actionable business insights.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of proven experience as a Data Engineer, with a preference for experience as a Data Analyst.
  • BSc/BA in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Management, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in SQL, particularly with Google BigQuery.
  • Proficiency in Python and Bash.
  • Strong experience with Dagster/DBT is highly preferred.
  • Extensive experience working with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS).
  • Familiarity with BI tools such as Looker, Tableau, Thoughtspot, or Amplitude is preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills and organizational abilities.
  • Knowledge of privacy requirements and information security.
  • Problem-solving aptitude.
