You would be joining Nord Pool, which shapes the international power markets. Nord Pool has been the world’s first international organized power marketplace and delivers efficient, simple and secure trading across Europe. It offers day-ahead and intraday power trading, clearing and settlement to customers regardless of size or location.
More than employees guided by Nord Pool’s values (Together, with Integrity, towards Excellence) from offices in Oslo, Stockholm, Helsinki, Tallinn, London, Brussels and Berlin support and consult about companies from more than 20 countries and governments and other public bodies across the globe on how to trade power. Nord Pool is now a Nominated Electricity Market Operator (NEMO) in 16 European countries and is expanding to new markets across Europe and beyond.
Nord Pool is an energetic and growing company where each individual can contribute to the success, develop business and have influence on results. In order to accelerate our growth, we are looking for a Senior Legal Counsel based in Norway.
Your Tasks…
are focused on supporting the different internal departments and subsidiaries on existing and upcoming legal or regulatory issues. You will providing legal advice on both local and international issues.
Key accountabilities
Proactively contribute to the development of Nord Pool’s legal framework and policies in relation to regulatory and legal matters (general business law contract law, corporate law, Intellectual property law, competition law, law related to guarantees and other collateral documents).
Provide legal advice to internal clients and stakeholders, including by identifying, managing and communicating risks and opportunities associated with specific agreements and business objectives and initiatives.
Participate and represent Nord Pool in European and regional market coupling projects.
Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide array of commercial agreements, including e.g. market coupling agreements, cooperation agreements, service agreements, IT delivery contracts.
Consistently anticipate, communicate, provide timely evaluation and guidance of, and propose mitigation strategies for and advise management of potential risks in contractual, regulatory, compliance, financial and other legal areas.
Assess and respond to information and concerns and/or issues raised by market participants, regulators and other stakeholders.
Contribute to ongoing process improvement and problem solving work product of the legal group.
Your profile
Ability to maintain excellent working relationships with colleagues in other business areas, external bodies and key stakeholders such as senior management, external legal counsel and relevant regulators.
Superior analytical skills and creative problem solving ability, with an appreciation for striking a practical balance between business and legal objectives.
Talent for absorbing new skill sets and areas of expertise quickly and comfortably and the flexibility to deal with a diverse international set of clients and advisors.
Be a pragmatic, high-energy professional, with personal and professional integrity.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
English fluency.
Flexibility to travel within Europe.
Education: Master degree in law from a Norwegian university.
Minimum of 5 years of professional experience gained with a reputable law firm or as in-house counsel with international exposure.
Preferably good knowledge of European electricity markets and/or other regulated industries.
