Riverty is a leading financial solutions provider, dedicated to empowering financial growth for everyone. As a Legal Counsel, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our business and the entire company in various legal affairs.

The Riverty legal community consists of about 25+ lawyers, with whom you will have regular interactions. Your daily work will also entail close contact with other functions such as Product, Sales, Marketing, Risk, Compliance, Finance, and Operations.

In this role, you will join our team of lawyers from Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and the Netherlands and report to our General Counsel for RBIF (business unit Riverty Back in Flow) Nordics & Benelux. Your role in our debt collection and purchase business is central, supporting our operations in Norway and Denmark.

In this position, you will be involved in client and supplier matters, drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements, set-ups, and other legal documents. You will also be responsible for the company's internal legal training and actively participate in developing the legal department.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing legal support and advice on a wide variety of topics, particularly in debt collection, consumer law, business law, and contract law
  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating client contracts, supplier agreements, and other pertinent internal and external contracts and legal documents
  • Supporting a wide range of internal stakeholders and acting as a sparring partner to the international Legal team
  • Representing the organization in matters involving supervisory authorities
  • Monitoring upcoming legislation and advising the organization on the potential impact on business
  • Depending on location, having the opportunity to litigate disputes before the courts

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A Master's degree in law (Norway or Denmark preferred) and 2-5 years of hands-on experience
  • Experience in debt collection, debt purchase, consumer protection law, and contract law
  • Well-developed legal, drafting, and advisory skills
  • An analytical, determined, result-oriented, and self-motivated personality
  • Ability to work independently, able to handle a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Good communication skills, able to explain complex topics in a simple way, a commitment to work and commercial thinking
  • Fluency in English and one of the Scandinavian languages
