Backend Developer in a lead role to Personalised Frontpage

Welcome to our team; the Horizontal Personalised Frontpage. We are a new shiny super important team with the mission to build our NMP Frontpage for our end users and support other NMP teams in our new Nordic organisation. A brand new team also means that we will be testing and trying new things as we go. For this team, we need a lead who can coach and mentor the team in the tech parts. So if you’re up for having a big impact on what we do, how we work and what we should create, this would be an excellent fit. A role that definitely will help us to make sure the users can just sit back and relax while enjoying the fantastic experience - built on really smart code.

Long time ago, when the internet just was born, digital marketplaces popped up in the different Nordic countries. One by one they grew into successful tech companies with unique and strong positions as market leaders in all Nordic countries. As of this year, FINN in Norway, Blocket in Sweden, DBA and Bilbasen in Denmark, and Tori and Oikotie in Finland, merged to make up the Nordic Marketplaces in Schibsted (our Group), collectively connecting millions of buyers and sellers every month. What you'll be up to
As a Back End lead you will, above creating great code, have the responsibility to manage the technical “backlog” and flag potential risks or blockers, together with the team. You will be our “go-to person” for inquiries about the team's technical solutions. In addition, you will collaborate with the team’s Product Manager, our Area Tech Lead and other Team Tech Leads in the Nordics. As Back End lead you will be our manager’s left hand when it comes to systems and hands-on coding. You will be part of collaborating and driving tech strategy alignment, network with other teams and functions, educate and create great coding practices.

Who you are
You are a backend developer with a few years of hands-on experience in backend development. In addition, you have clear leadership skills. This means you can independently lead the development of new features, and enjoy discussing and debating code and solutions with your peers. You like sharing your knowledge within your team but also with the rest of the organisation. As a person, you are a true collaborator, curious by heart, inclusive and continuously strive to learn new things. You are a change leader and connector, making discussions happen with your great communication in all direction skills.

  • Golang: Sets the standard for efficient backend development.
  • GCP: Guides the team in scalable cloud deployments.
  • Kubernetes: Crucial for leading complex system management.
  • Docker: Ensures consistent application deployment quality.
  • Kafka: Leads in building real-time, event-driven systems.
  • REST and gRPC: Offers diverse and efficient API solutions.
  • Event-driven Architecture: Directs the development of scalable, responsive applications.
  • Frontend Knowledge: Bridges backend and frontend efforts for team synergy.
