Department of Strategy and Entrepreneurship

The Department of Strategy and Entrepreneurship wishes to expand the faculty related to teaching in strategy and entrepreneurship at Campus Oslo. The persons hired will be expected to actively contribute to BI's new flagship course "Doing Sustainable Business", a capstone course delivered to all bachelor students in their final semester. The new hires will be expected to actively contribute to BI's programs at BI campuses and will be working closely with Faculty at the Department.

Expectations and Obligations

Our faculty is expected to provide teaching and supervision of a high academic and pedagogical quality as well as continuously develop their teaching skills, e.g. by making use of new technology, new ways of learning, case-based teaching, and new forms of assessment. We focus strongly on quality and competence development. Pedagogical activities should be continuously documented, supporting the process for further academic career development. As a lecturer/senior lecturer in a teaching position, you have a duty to stay professionally up to date. We prefer applicants who have ambitions and plans for development in an educational career.

Qualification Requirements Pedagogical Positions

• Academically relevant master's degree (5 years) or PhD.
• Relevant professional practice from society or business.
• Relevant practical-pedagogical competence based on education or through teaching and supervision.
• Applicants for the position of senior lecturer preferably have research expertise and we welcome applicants with a doctoral degree.

Other Assessment Criteria

• Language skills; Norwegian language skills count positively. Faculty appointments and promotions approved after 1. August 2025 will have Norwegian language requirements, as stated in the national regulations. All pedagogical and research positions must document language proficiency in Norwegian at minimum B2 level or be subject to acquiring the level within 3 years of the appointment.
• Previous experience with teaching, case-teaching, and supervision is preferable.
• Visibility within the international and national academic community is desirable, for instance:
• Papers in top international conferences, and well-recognized journals/outlets within the relevant discipline/area.
• Visibility in the academic arena or other relevant arenas important for the discipline.

The following qualifications will also be considered in the assessment of the applicants:

• Documented experience with interactive and process-oriented teaching methods.
• Knowledge of and interest in modern pedagogical approaches, as well as the development of study programs, will be appreciated.
• Weight will also be given to experience from the public sector, business, and/or the public sector, including R&D work, research dissemination, and research-based advisory services.
• International work experience in the field of economics and business administration is valued.

According to governmental provisions, BI has decided on requirements concerning the educational qualifications of permanently employed academic staff. As a minimum, such qualifications shall meet the learning outcome of BI's pedagogical basic qualification courses or equivalent at all times. This specific competence may be obtained within two years after commencing the position.
