About the Role

Vortex is a weather forecasting and decision support platform that helps our clients understand the weather conditions that affect their operations. Our products use advanced analytics and meteorological services to provide weather insights that are tailored to the location and industry of our clients.

This role is ideal for a detail-oriented and analytical professional who is passionate about quality assurance and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced setting. With a strong focus on manual testing, API testing, and test documentation, you will help drive process improvements and maintain the integrity of our software solutions.

Important: This is a hybrid office role (60/40) at our Bergen location. Candidates must have the right to work in Norway.

Main Responsibilities

  • Test Planning: Develop comprehensive test plans, including test strategies, test cases, and test data, based on project requirements and specifications.
  • Test Execution: Execute test cases to identify defects, issues, and inconsistencies in software functionality, performance, and usability.
  • Regression Testing: Conduct regression testing to ensure that new code changes do not negatively impact existing features and functionality.
  • Bug Reporting: Document and report defects, issues, and anomalies with clear and concise descriptions, including steps to reproduce.
  • Issue Tracking: Utilize issue tracking systems (e.g., Jira) to monitor and manage the progress of reported defects and issues.
  • Test Documentation: Create and maintain test documentation, including test plans, test cases, and test reports for audit and reference.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for process improvement within the QA process and actively participate in process enhancements.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers, and designers, to resolve issues and improve product quality.

Core Requirements

  • Extensive hands-on experience in manual software testing for web applications, with a proven track record of testing complex software systems.
  • At least 2–3 years of experience writing detailed test cases and executing them effectively as part of a structured QA process.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, capable of effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams and documenting results.
  • Good knowledge of QA methodologies, including test planning, execution and defect management.
  • Attention to Detail and effective time management skills to prioritize testing tasks and meet project deadlines.
  • Mentorship and Leadership Abilities, with experience guiding junior QA team members, promoting best practices, and fostering a quality-driven team culture.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills.
  • Proficiency with Testing Tools - Jira, Confluence, Postman, Swagger.
  • Experience with API testing.
  • Test Documentation Skills, including the ability to create, maintain, and refine test documentation such as test strategies, test plans, detailed test cases, and reports.
  • Proactive Learning and Adaptation, with a demonstrated commitment to staying updated on industry trends, tools, and QA best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ISTQB Certification.
  • Experience with test case management tools.
  • Proficiency with GitHub.
  • Experience working with containerized environments.
