Welcoming you to the team
The Project Planner department is diverse and multicultural with 20 members located mainly in Oslo, divided into 5 portfolios/teams. Our department is responsible for planning all related activities respecting Nexans planning procedures throughout the lifetime of the projects. With projects all around the world, the team supports small and simple projects to large and complex turn-key projects. The workplace is in Oslo, and you will report to the Project Planning Manager, overseeing a team of planners.
Getting a flying start
To succeed in Project Planning, you should have experience with project management and detailed planning from the energy industry. You should also have experience with the identification, analysis, and follow-up of schedule risks and opportunities. Experience in project-driven companies with activities related to project planning is essential. Ideally, your experience relates to interconnectors, wind farms, or power from shore. You must ensure quality and safety during the projects, with high standards in execution of work through your analytical and structured mindset.
How you make an impact
You will work in the Project Planning department, leading and coordinating all activities related to schedule and detail planning under the direction of the Project Planning Manager. Your responsibilities include mentoring planners, ensuring the quality of the schedules they produce, and assisting the Project Director/Manager in resolving schedule-related challenges. You will support the project and technical management team in planning activities both internally and externally, governed by the Contract, internal procedures, and the Project Model. You will establish the baseline schedule based on the Document Register, Procurement Plan, Manufacturing, and Installation schedules, including critical path analysis. Your proactive skills will ensure detailed planning, identification, analysis, and follow-up of schedule risks and opportunities. Additionally, you will work on identifying and understanding client, stakeholder, and third-party obligations, leading initiatives, and participating in technical improvements relevant to our department. Promoting Quality and HSE will also be part of your role.
Your starting point when you join
- Relevant College or University degree (experience can compensate)
- Over 10 years of relevant project planning experience
- Relevant team leader experience
- Training or certification in planning
- Advanced user of planning tool Primavera P6; good knowledge in MS Project, Excel, and other relevant tools
- A structured, proactive, and analytical mindset is crucial for success in this role.
- Basic technical and economic understanding is important for detailed planning.
- Effective communication and cooperation skills are essential as we work in teams and are driven by project execution.
- Fluent in English (oral and written); Norwegian is a plus.
