As the Senior Contract Manager, you will be reporting in solid line to the Grid Solutions Regional Contract Management Leader and a dotted line to the Project Director, and in strict cooperation with the Project Team, assumes overall responsibility for all contractual activities in the assigned Projects portfolio.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  1. Thorough analysis of the contract and elaboration, with the Project Director, of the Project's contract and commercial strategy.
  2. Presentation to the Project Team of the contractual analysis, commercial execution strategy issuance of the Contract Questionnaire, Contract Commercial Plan (CCP) and other contract analysis deliverables as per Contract Management processes.
  3. Draft and share with the Project Team the Claim and Variation Procedure.
  4. Implement contractual procedures, particularly regarding claims, insurance, variation orders, correspondence and notifications.
  5. Identify GE as well as customer / consortium and other third-party contract obligations and develop and implement the Project contract commercial plan, including Project claim strategy.
  6. Proactively support Project risk and opportunity identification and analysis.
  7. Assume responsibility for all Project contractual activities from hand-over from Sales until all contractual obligations are completed and all contractual issues are resolved / settled.
  8. Ensure notices are given in line with contract requirements.
  9. Proactively manage claims to/from customers and partners, incl. negotiations and settlements.
  10. Management of claims to/from contractors, subcontractors and suppliers as required and ensure appropriate recovery from third parties.
  11. Manage Project variation requests / orders.
  12. Manage Project insurances: ensure contract compliant insurance coverage; submit, monitor and settle of insurance claims in accordance with the policies.
  13. If requested, provide support and guidance and training to Project team on general contractual issues.
  14. Clarify contractual / legal enquiries, if necessary, referring to Legal.
  15. Provide support in the event of dispute.
  16. Report on Project claims and variations, as well as potentially critical contract issues to management and, as required, to project control, finance and audit staff.
  17. Report to management for the approval of variation orders, amendments and settlements in accordance with the applicable Delegation of Authority.

Experience and Knowledge:

  1. Proven experience / track record in claim preparation and negotiation (EOT claim, global claim, contract renegotiations etc) including elaboration of claim strategy.
  2. Knowledge of delay analysis principles (critical path analysis, concurrent delay principles etc).
  3. Understanding of contract law.
  4. Understanding of Project risk management.
  5. Experience in high-level negotiations.
  6. Extensively demonstrated years of hands-on contract management experience in complex infrastructure projects (power generation and power transmission preferred).
  7. Experience in NEC and Fidic contract models preferred.

Skills & Experience:

  1. Excellent communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  2. Capacity to prioritise work and interface with relevant stakeholders for the collection of information.
  3. Influencing skills, intercultural skills, capable of working in a team.
  4. University degree in engineering, quantity surveying, business administration or law.
  5. Accountability and say/do mindset.
  6. Perfect knowledge of written and spoken English.
