About the Role

The Cost Controller will be responsible for budgeting, cost control, and reporting for our ongoing Vale Decommissioning project and Oda Decommissioning project. The ideal candidate will have experience working on large-scale projects, with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish and maintain accurate budgets and cost estimates.
  • Prepare timely and thorough cost reports for senior management and stakeholders.
  • Ensure alignment between cost data and change control database (PIMS) and Excel.
  • Build strong relationships within the project team and external partners.
  • Support coordination of License Budgets & Project Approval for Expenditures (AFE's) and ensure their timely approvals.
  • Monitor expenditure against License budgets and AFEs, and enforce change control processes.
  • Collate and update project cost estimates as work progresses, including baseline updates.
  • Track and analyse cost data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Work closely with contractors to ensure maximum accuracy for cost reporting.
  • Promote a culture of proactive tracking, validation, and reporting on Purchase Requisitions and Orders, Service Orders, Variation Orders, and Invoice Payments.
  • Present cost performance or status in License meetings when required.
  • Prepare monthly cost reports for submittal to the Project Teams, Project Management Function, and License Partners.
  • Review and challenge contractor cost reports.

Requirements

  • A degree-level qualification related to Project Management, Project Controls, Cost Engineering, Economics, or Business Management.
  • 3-5 years of experience in cost engineering and/or cost control on relevant larger development projects or decommissioning projects.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft365 tools, including advanced use of Excel. Some PowerBI experience is beneficial.
  • Experience with project management tools, such as PIMS and Visma.

This role requires a self-motivated individual who can work independently, learn, and understand project requirements. You should be able to identify necessary activities to fulfill cost services required by the project.

  • Strong influencing skills, including the ability to question and challenge project teams, and chair cost-related meetings.

  • Ability to successfully interact with contractors and partners, coordinating cost data information flow between stakeholders.
