We are looking for personnel to support key client projects with the NATO Joint Warfare Centre (JWC) in Stavanger, Norway. The JWC plays a critical role in preparing NATO forces for future challenges by conducting large-scale training events, simulations, and exercises to enhance interoperability among NATO member nations.

The JWC supports NATO's overall strategic objectives by ensuring that its forces are well-prepared and capable of responding to various global threats and challenges.

Role Background

The NATO Senior Civilian Representative's role is to carry forward the Alliance's political-military objectives in a country, representing the political leadership of the Alliance officially and publicly. This involves liaising with authorities, civil society, representatives of the international community, and neighbouring countries.

Role Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide subject matter expertise in the political situation and attitude of required nations to realistically represent the exercise scenario to the training audience.
  • Act as the focal point for the training audience for the government of required countries for political and diplomatic matters during exercise preparation and execution.
  • Coordinate political and diplomatic operational matters with all other national and international political representatives.
  • Make solicited recommendations to the JWC Exercise Control team.
Essential Skills and Experience
  • Demonstrate 3 years' experience in the last 10 in the field of political decision making at Ministry of Foreign Affairs or Ministry of Defence level.
  • Demonstrate 3 years' experience in the last 10 in briefing senior leaders/decision makers at the governance level in a National or Multinational environment.
  • Demonstrate 3 years' experience in the last 10 in influencing national policy making at strategic level in the represented country.
  • Have been an ambassador or defense attaché in an African country and experience as a NATO representative in the last 10 years.
Education
  • A University/ Bachelor's Degree.
Language
  • Business English.
Working Location
  • Stavanger, Norway.
  • Remote work may be requested on an ad-hoc basis per requirement.
Working Policy
  • Each exercise support requirement is anticipated to be 5 to 15 working days per event.
  • On-Site, unless otherwise specified with up to 12-hour days.
  • If out-of-hours work is required, this will be requested on a per-requirement basis.
Travel
  • Any associated travel costs to and from your home location to participate in the activity will be covered by Spekrum.
Security Clearance
  • Valid National or NATO Secret personal security clearance.
