About the PhD Position

The Department of Foreign Languages invites applications for a four-year PhD position in English linguistics commencing from August 2025. The successful candidate will be affiliated with the section for English linguistics and the research group Language Data and Language Change (LDLC).

The PhD project must focus on empirical data-driven research, emphasizing quantitative approaches and anchored in linguistic theory. Potential fields of study include language variation and change, synchronic or historical linguistics, and language contact.

A detailed plan for the PhD project, including time allocation for research, career-promoting work, and formal training, will be established in collaboration with the Department.
