About the Opportunity

The Department of Archaeology, History, Cultural Studies and Religion at the University of Bergen invites applications for a PhD Research Fellowship in archaeology. This position is part of an interdisciplinary research group focusing on medieval history, religion, and everyday life.

We are seeking an archaeologist who would like to develop a project related to one or more of the following topics:

  • Christianization of Norway and its impact on landscape and society.
  • Material remains of churches, monasteries, and hospitals and their significance in society.
  • Religiosity and everyday life in the Middle Ages reflected through various source materials.

As a PhD candidate, you will participate in the Faculty of Humanities' educational programme, including a training component corresponding to 30 ECTS. You will work independently in a well-structured manner and have strong cooperation skills.
