Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a research project focused on the geological conditions required to carbonate volcanic rocks.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct detailed fieldwork and core studies to investigate the formation of carbonates in igneous rocks.
  • Petrographically and geochemically characterize tephra samples from sedimentary sequences.
  • Design and conduct experiments to further understand how tephra is altered to carbonate.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or equivalent in carbonate geochemistry, tephra geochemistry, and/or petrography in volcanic and sedimentary systems.
  • Experience with outcrop studies and/or core studies at Master level.
  • Foreign completed degree (M.Sc.-level) corresponding to a minimum of four years in the Norwegian educational system.

Desirable qualifications:

  • Experience with experimental geochemistry and fluid geochemistry.
  • Experience with carbon isotope analyses and interpretations.
  • Master level experience with volcanology.
