As a Principal Piping and Layout Engineer, you will take on the role of Discipline Lead within various projects, guiding and coordinating a team of both internal and external engineers to achieve and surpass performance benchmarks. Your leadership will foster a collaborative atmosphere and strong team dynamics, while also providing mentorship to junior engineers to facilitate their professional growth.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Execute piping and layout engineering tasks for tenders and projects, adhering to NOV's internal standards and project specifications. Assume the position of lead piping and layout engineer when required during tenders and projects. Evaluate and provide guidance on the piping and layout engineering outputs produced by the project or tender team, ensuring compliance with project specifications. Review piping and layout designs in 3D modeling software such as AVEVA E3D and Bentley Microstation, as well as in isometric piping drawings, identifying necessary modifications and improvements. Monitor the implementation of these changes by team members. Deliver results in alignment with quality, budget, deadlines, and health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards. Drive enhancements and standardization of operational methods and tools, focusing on efficiency, quality, cost-effectiveness, and HSE compliance. Organize and actively engage in technical meetings across disciplines, including interface discussions. Contribute to project timelines, budgeting, risk assessments, man-hour estimations, and team assignments. Identify, analyze, and report on technical deviations, non-conformities, and lessons learned. Support and collaborate in the change management process. Participate in supplier and site testing activities as required by project needs. Engage in hazard evaluation workshops as necessary for projects (HAZOP, HAZID). Take part in quality and technical audits as requested by management. Collaborate closely with colleagues to achieve shared business objectives. Mentor junior team members to aid their development and success. Contribute to fostering a positive work environment and strong team spirit within the local and global teams. Some travel may be required based on project demands.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field, with a minimum of a BSc; MSc preferred. At least 5 years of experience, ideally 10 to 15 years, in piping and layout engineering within the energy, process, renewables, or oil and gas sectors. Comprehensive knowledge of international standards such as API, ISO, NORSOK, ASME, and EU regulations. A multidisciplinary engineering perspective and the ability to collaborate effectively with both engineering and non-engineering teams. Capacity to understand the broader context of piping and layout design and prioritize tasks accordingly. Experience in fabrication and construction oversight, with a solid grasp of cost drivers.

Desirable skills include proficiency in the administration and implementation of 3D modeling tools utilized at NOV Process Systems, such as AVEVA E3D and Bentley Microstation. Examples of tasks include:

Setting up databases, users, sites, and teams. Configuring drawing setups. Establishing Rvm export setups. Allocating databases and managing primary database locations. Monitoring planned tasks effectively.


• Proficiency in English, both written and spoken; knowledge of Norwegian is a plus.
