Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Mathematics Education with a Focus on Critical Mathematics Education

The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our Mathematics Education Section. The successful candidate will contribute to our research group's efforts in exploring the critical positioning of mathematics in different dimensions of society, particularly in schools.
Job DescriptionWe are looking for a candidate with a strong background in mathematics education and a research focus on critical mathematics education. The postdoctoral fellow will work closely with our research group to explore the critical stance on various issues related to climate change and its mitigation measures through education for sustainable development (ESD). The successful candidate will also contribute to the development of innovative transdisciplinary approaches to engage with sustainability from a socio-ecological perspective within school and teacher education contexts.
Responsibilities- Conduct research on critical mathematics education and its application in education for sustainable development
- Collaborate with international researchers to develop innovative approaches to sustainability education
- Contribute to the development of the Sustainability Lab for schools initiative
- Work closely with the Mathematics Education Section to advance our research goals
- PhD in Mathematics Education or a related field
- Background and research experience in education for sustainability in educational contexts
- Good written and oral knowledge of English
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- PhD in Mathematics Education with a strong focus on education for sustainable development from a critical mathematics education perspective
- Experience with research on critical mathematics education and its application in education for sustainable development
- Strong understanding of mathematics education literature and theories, particularly critical mathematics education
- Independence, proactiveness, and solution-oriented approach
- Ability to work in teams and take an active role in raising the profile of our research group
- Strong willingness to support our efforts to seek external resources and collaborate with multiple stakeholders

The postdoctoral fellow will be employed as a code 1352, with a salary of NOK 594,500 per annum before tax, depending on qualifications and seniority. The period of employment is 3 years.
