The Norwegian University of Science and Technology is seeking a highly qualified Postdoctoral Fellow to join our research team in the field of geomechanics. The successful candidate will be part of a collaborative project focused on the geomechanical evaluation of safe subsurface CO2 storage.
Job SummaryThe Postdoctoral Fellow will be responsible for conducting laboratory experiments and numerical simulations to investigate the geomechanical processes associated with injection operations in CO2 storage reservoirs. The successful candidate will work closely with the PhD student on numerical modeling and will be supervised by Prof. Alexandre Lavrov.
Key Responsibilities- Design and conduct laboratory experiments to characterize the mechanical properties of anisotropic shale and reservoir rock cores.
- Analyze experimental data to extend to numerical simulations using the VISAGE model, in collaboration with Prof. Alexandre Lavrov.
- PhD in Geoscience or Engineering, or equivalent foreign doctoral degree recognized as equivalent to a Norwegian PhD.
- Documented expertise in laboratory experiments and numerical modeling.
- Strong background in rock mechanics and geomechanics.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience in carbon capture and storage.
- Knowledge of shale mechanical properties.
- Good written and oral English language skills.
