Role Overview

In the position of Principal Cost Estimator, you will be part of Rambøll Energy in Norway. You will guide and mentor a dynamic team of specialists, providing essential support to Project Managers and discipline leads from the tender phase through to the analysis and monitoring of costs throughout project execution. As a senior member of our major projects team, your contributions will be vital in reinforcing our reputation as a reliable partner for our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate effectively with project managers and discipline leads to assist in achieving budgetary targets and overseeing project expenditures.
  • Foster strong relationships with external suppliers through procurement, ensuring favorable terms while maintaining quality and delivery standards.
  • Develop comprehensive reports and present pertinent information to key stakeholders.
  • Monitor and adjust budgets as necessary throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Initiate cost-saving strategies to minimize expenses.
  • Assess project needs to ensure precise planning of human and financial resources.
  • Regularly update cost databases, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Formulate cost-effective solutions to implement necessary changes and mitigate cost overruns.
  • Contribute to the growth and development of the cost estimation team.
  • Promote a shared understanding between project leads and disciplines regarding cost estimation.

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in cost estimation within the Energy Transition sector, particularly in renewable projects such as hydrogen, CCS, bioenergy, and wind. Candidates from closely related industries, such as Offshore Oil & Gas, will also be considered.
  • Strong commercial acumen in project finance and contractual matters.
  • Familiarity with estimation software and database systems.
  • Proficiency in English and Norwegian, both written and verbal.
  • Residence in Norway with a valid work permit.
