Job Description

As a Global Technical Support Consultant, you'll be responsible for monitoring and maintaining terminals, firmware, and networks for Inmarsat's partners and end customers.

You'll diagnose hardware/software faults, solve technical problems, and provide customer excellence in all interactions.

Your technical support is essential to the ongoing operation of vessels, aircraft, or land-based terminals and the lives of those reliant on these services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identification and diagnosis of hardware device, software application, system, and/or network problems.
  • Resolution of GX service system or hardware issues reported by our channel, NOC, or other internal parties.
  • Knowledge sharing with the training academy on GX troubleshooting processes and network tools.
  • Accurate logging and record-keeping of customer issues and solutions for business improvement initiatives.
  • Update of self-help documents for customers and colleagues to try and fix problems independently.
  • Collaboration with field engineers for site visits if a problem requires hands-on assistance.
  • Testing and repair of faulty equipment.
Requirements
  • Degree in communications/network engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in IP data and circuit switched data/voice connectivity, ideally within satellite communications or cellular sectors.
  • Understanding of Wireless Networking technologies such as WiFi and Bluetooth in a mobile/satellite environment.
  • Exceptional customer focus and ability to assist others in overcoming technical challenges.
  • Self-motivation and tenacity in meeting tight deadlines even under pressure.
  • Actively committed to expanding deep technical knowledge and commercial understanding.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Good understanding of network and networking protocols.
  • Good understanding of core Inmarsat Products & Services and their capabilities.
  • Experience working on a shift pattern.
  • Knowledge of a foreign language.
