Job Description

The Department of Informatics at the University of Oslo is seeking a talented researcher to join our team as a PhD Research Fellow in Neuro-Symbolic AI for Cyber Security.

We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled individual who can contribute to our research activities in the area of neuro-symbolic artificial intelligence (NeSy) to support operations and decision-making in Security Operations Centres. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a range of projects, from investigating and enhancing NeSy to augmenting threat situational awareness and decision support systems.

The fellowship position is part of the Digital Security research group, which conducts research in various areas of information and cyber security, focusing on fundamental aspects and applications in multidisciplinary contexts. We work in collaboration with leading national and international research partners from academia, government, and industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research in the area of NeSy to support operations and decision-making in Security Operations Centres.
  • Investigate and enhance NeSy to augment threat situational awareness and decision support systems.
  • Collaborate with researchers and developers to integrate NeSy into existing systems.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree or equivalence in cyber security, computer science (informatics), or artificial intelligence.
  • Fluent oral and written English communication skills.
  • Previous knowledge and experience in AI and ML, including LLMs and agentic workflows, and/or semantic technologies, will be beneficial.
