The Opportunity
We are looking for an Acoustical Development Engineer with a specialization in electro-acoustics and audio transducer integration to join our audio team that is part of our product development department. This role centers on ensuring the physical excellence of our products—from hardware component selection to the final acoustic experience. At Neat, you will contribute directly to products that shape the future of real-time communication. You will work closely with our existing acoustics expert to bridge the gap between industrial and mechanical design, hardware electronics, and the software that drives them.
What you will do
Collaborate cross-functionally with the audio team, mechanical engineers, and designers to design
and optimize the integration of microphones and loudspeakers into our products.Contribute to audio system design, including loudspeaker tuning, cross-over filter design, audio
amplifier configuration and gain staging.Identify and mitigate acoustic challenges such as rattling, vibration, and hardware noises.
Evaluate and select MEMS microphones and loudspeaker transducers.
Use your knowledge in electro-acoustics and loudspeaker design to achieve the best possible
performance for speech reproduction, while reaching cost and sustainability goals.Plan and execute acoustical measurements and verification tests of microphones and loudspeakers.
Assist in ensuring our products meet certification requirements for partners like Zoom, Microsoft
Teams, and Google Meet.Manage and review the work of external partners and vendors, ensuring their testing methods and
production test results align with Neat's high expectations.

Required qualifications
Master's or PhD degree in Acoustics, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering,
or a related field.Relevant experience in the industry is preferred, but exceptional new graduates with the right
background will be considered.Strong understanding of acoustics, audio electronics, and signal processing fundamentals.
Familiarity with software development in Python; used for data analysis and scripting.
Based in or willing to relocate to the Oslo area. This role requires regular presence at our
Fornebu office to work directly with hardware prototypes, acoustic test equipment, and lab facilities.Fluent in English.
