Stavanger, Norway Nutreco Full time

Skretting Aquaculture Innovation is seeking an LCA Expert / Technical Lead Sustainability Metrics to join our global Sustainability team, reporting to the Sustainability Director.

This role is critical in driving our mission to accurately measure and reduce environmental impacts while identifying sustainable alternatives to achieve net-zero or even net positive outcomes. In this role you will guide strategic decisions in our sustainability transformation by providing essential data, calculations, and life-cycle mindset, ensuring compliance with regulations and effectively responding to value chain partners.

We are seeking a sustainability expert to lead environmental impact assessments for our raw materials, products, and organization. Your work will involve using advanced methodologies such as Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Material Flow Analysis (MFA), and Circular Economy principles, and be a trusted technical expert who seamlessly combines sustainability ambitions with business performance, using robust data. You will contribute to driving Skretting's sustainability agenda while working effectively across various business functions to ensure that sustainability efforts align with and enhance overall business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead environmental impact and sustainability assessments of raw materials, products and the organisation, based on proven and accepted calculation methodologies and concepts such as life cycle assessment (LCA), material flow analysis (MFA), environmental risk assessment (e.g., for biodiversity) and circular economy;

Collect, update and improve inventory data based on methods consistent with Skretting and Nutreco, international LCA standards (e.g. GHG Protocol, PEF, ISO 14040/44) and industry best practices in order to perform LCAs in SimaPro;

Build and maintain databases with relevant footprint and other environmental information, link them to other data systems, and develop (automated) reporting;

In cooperation with Procurement, liaise with suppliers to secure a deeper understanding of footprints of our raw materials and supply chain, validate supplier’s footprint data, develop a footprint benchmarking system and identify options to practically reduce our footprint, e.g. to achieve Nutreco’s Scope 3 Science Based Targets (SBTi);

Support the business to identify options and best path towards meeting Skretting Sustainability Ambitions;

Support category managers, OpCo's, Innovation and the rest of organization with footprint information, its understanding and integration into different tools and functions;

Contribute to the development of the environmental strategy and support Skretting on projects and reporting, participate in Nutreco sustainability meetings;

Support commercial teams in developing products and services targeted towards and based on our understanding of the environmental impact;

Represent Skretting in external technical networks, working groups as well as in conferences or other activities.

What we ask:

For this role, you’ll need strong stakeholder and project management skills to navigate the various LCA challenges you’ll face. A structured, precise, and creative approach is key to delivering concrete assessments while balancing scientific robustness with practical application. Additionally, a system-oriented mindset and the ability to understand, process, and evaluate environmental data in line with project goals are essential for success in this position.

As a strong communicator, you get your message across to different stakeholders fostering strong relationships and collaborations internally and externally. Your conceptual and analytical thinking style allows you to look forward (rather than backward), so you are comfortable with uncertainty and have a creative approach to problem solving.

What you bring:

Master’s of Engineering, or master of science in agriculture, aquaculture, environmental science/engineering, or biological science.

Minimum of five years of experience working with LCA, preferably in the food/feed sector.

Fluent in (verbal and written) English

Experience with project management
