Oslo, Oslo County, Norway ElBits Full time
Do you want to join the charge towards a greener future? At Elbits we aim for digital innovation that meets sustainability in a friendly, well-funded startup environment.

Norway is on a mission to electrify all industries, all businesses, and all homes. To do this we need more grid capacity. ElBits is creating digital solutions to unlock more capacity in the grid and support the green transition. We believe that when we create one grid powered by data, we can make more green electricity available for Norway. We are a startup but are owned and funded by the grid companies - and have big ambitions for the future that we want you to be a part of.

Who are we?

We are an innovative, curious and enthusiastic team with lots of energy and lots to get done. We're excited about agile, solution-oriented, explorative and collaborative processes. We believe that using these tools and methods will help us create digital solutions that can solve many of the problems in today's electrical grid. Our culture is friendly and fast-paced – we are constantly challenging, testing, and adapting the way we do things. But we also want to make sure that we build solid foundations that can support us while we grow. It's the perfect mixture of a start-up vibe but with job security

We are looking for well-versed engineers with a strong interest in data to join us in driving the future of energy solutions. Our data team builds standardized national data products for the power system, such as the national grid model, and develops digital infrastructure to enable seamless collaboration and data exchange within the power sector. We also facilitate third-party innovation through effective data sharing.

What will you do?

You'll work closely with our cross-functional teams throughout the entire product lifecycle, from identifying and defining data challenges to building and validating solutions. A key part of this role involves close collaboration with grid companies and other users of our data products to ensure our solutions are impactful and tailored to industry needs.

You'll also collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and developers, working on prototypes and experimenting with data models that push the boundaries of energy technology. If you enjoy solving complex data challenges and are excited about innovating in the energy sector, we would love to hear from you.

Typical responsibilities can include:
  • Build standardized national datasets on the power system, such as the national grid model, for use by ElBits, grid companies, government agencies, and third parties.
  • Develop self-service platforms that enable efficient data exchange and storage between grid companies and ElBits.
  • Collaborate closely with users of platform services within ElBits, as well as external stakeholders such as grid companies, government bodies, and third parties, to understand their needs and provide data solutions.
  • Facilitate third-party innovation through effective data sharing and collaboration, enabling new applications and insights in the power sector.
  • Advise our partners and internal teams on best practices for data quality, data modeling, and data management within the power sector, contributing to the development of standards and guidelines for data handling.
  • Collaborate with product managers, developers, and designers to identify problems, prototype solutions, and implement experiments for validation, ensuring that the data is structured and accessible.
  • Ensure the processing of power-sensitive data complies with relevant laws and regulations, by implementing necessary access controls and ensuring the protection of our data.
Who are you?

First and foremost, we're looking for skilled and curious engineers with experience in software development and a keen interest in data engineering. While prior experience with data engineering tools and processes is beneficial, the most important qualities we seek are eagerness to learn and want to work with data-driven technologies.

Ideally, you have experience with …

  • Data engineering and enhancing quality of data with data modeling, quality assurance and establishing processes for accurate, reliable data.
  • Software development with proficiency in at least one programming language, familiarity of frameworks and an understanding of CI/CD tools.
  • Collaboration and clear communication of technical concepts to diverse audiences, both with different product teams as well as clients and partners.
  • Working in cross-functional teams fostering an iterative and experimental problem-solving environment.

It is an advantage if you have …

  • Interest in, or experience from the power sector and data standards such as CIM (Common Information Model).
  • Experience or interest in semantic technologies like RDF, and ideally also tools such as SPARQL and OWL for handling relationships and data exchange.
What can we offer?

First of all, we want to emphasize the opportunity to be challenged, develop your skills, and have the opportunity to work with truly amazing and competent colleagues. If you like variation and want to set new processes and ways of working - this is the place for you

We also offer:

  • A positive, flexible, and trust-based work environment.
  • To be a part of an innovative startup that has the financial security of the public sector.
  • To have your work have a great social impact and make a difference in the energy sector.
  • Great pension and insurance policies.
  • Modern office centrally located at Mesh Nationaltheatret in Oslo, one of Europe's fastest-growing cities.
  • Choice of equipment and other necessary tools to ensure you have everything you need to perform your role effectively.
  • Great colleagues & social events.
  • A work environment where you can be yourself. This is a place where we want people to come to work as they are.
What does the process look like?
  • Apply with your CV and contact information.
  • If we find your profile interesting, we'll schedule a short (30-minute) conversation with our recruitment advisor.
  • After that, we'll set up a Meet & Greet with our Head of Data.
  • For the second interview, we'll have a more in-depth technical discussion around your experience and understanding with the Head of Data and a developer from the Data team. Here we will inform you about our way of working and more about the team.
  • We do a couple of reference checks and send you an offer

If you have any questions or other inquiries regarding this position, feel free to send an email to anna.wold@elbits.no.
