About the role
Verdane is experiencing growth, and we're seeking a talented Data Engineer to join our Data & Insights team. As a Data Engineer, you'll be part of the platform team, taking ownership of our data warehouse, pipelines, data models, and testing processes.

As a successful candidate, you will join a team focused on enhancing workflows and data-use within Verdane and will sometimes assist portfolio companies in data engineering-related discussions and workshops. You will work with all departments to ensure access to relevant, high-quality data. The Data & Insights team comprises the Platform, Business Intelligence, and IT teams, covering a wide range of systems and processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and develop data pipelines (using tools like Fivetran and custom Python integrations in Databricks notebooks).
  • Create and maintain data models (leveraging dbt and star schemas) for consumption by Power BI, Microsoft Copilot, and other sources.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data needs and provide modeling solutions that align with business requirements.
  • Monitor and ensure data quality within the warehouse.
  • Prepare and optimize data in the warehouse for use within Microsoft Copilot and other LLMs.
  • Handle ad-hoc requests for scraping and data analyses.

Qualifications:

  • 2-5 years of experience in data modeling.
  • Proficiency in SQL.
  • Experience with Python for data-related tasks.
  • Technical skills in dbt, Databricks, Azure, Python, and Data Factory are beneficial.
  • Fluency in English (both written and spoken).

Personal Characteristics:

  • You excel at handling broad tasks.
  • Pragmatic and curious, you're eager to think outside the box.
  • Solution-oriented mindset.
  • Comfortable managing multiple projects and day-to-day tasks.
  • Down-to-earth with strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
  • Logical reasoning abilities.
  • Effective team player who can manage priorities independently.

Specific Projects:

  • Migrating to a new data warehouse built on Databricks.
  • Defining and implementing a data quality and governance monitoring strategy.
  • Expanding Microsoft 365 Copilot with company data.
  • Integrating APIs from SaaS tools to automate processes.

If you're analytically minded, value a down-to-earth culture, and possess the relevant technical skills, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.

Verdane is committed to creating a diverse, equitable, and inclusive working environment and we actively seek for qualified candidates regardless of race, gender identity, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, national origin, disability, or age.

Please note that applications are assessed on an ongoing basis and we encourage candidates to apply as soon as they feel ready.
