Postdoctoral Fellow positions in molecular and cell biology

Applications are invited for two 3-year Postdoctoral Fellow positions at the Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, University of Oslo, Norway.

The positions are funded by the Norwegian Cancer Society as part of a project titled Targeting Mono-ADP-ribosyltransferases in Breast Cancer to Enhance Antitumor Immunity. The purpose of this project is to investigate the ability of the mono-ADP-ribosyltransferase, Parp7 and Parp11, at improving check point inhibition therapy in intraductal mammary tumour models.

More about the position

Research activities will take place in the group headed by Prof. Jason Matthews (Matthews Lab) with expertise in type I interferon signalling, immune checkpoint inhibition, and cancer. The project includes the use of molecular and cell biology approaches, cell culture, mammary tumour models, immunophenotyping and single cell RNA sequencing.

We are interested in qualified and highly motivated applicants and offer competence development within cancer research in a stimulating academic environment. The main purpose of the fellowship is to qualify researchers for work in higher academic positions within their disciplines.

Qualification requirements
  • Applicants must hold a degree equivalent to a Norwegian doctoral degree in the fields of Nutrition, Biosciences, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Pharmacology, Physiology and/or Cancer.
  • Doctoral dissertation must be submitted for evaluation by the closing date. Appointment is dependent on the public defence of the doctoral thesis being approved.
  • Fluent oral and written communication skills in English are expected.
  • Previous experience with molecular and cell biology is required.
  • Experience with cell culture and/or mouse experiments is necessary.
  • Authorization to work with animal research is required (LAS301, FELASA C).
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
Work responsibilities
  • Laboratory work such as RNA and DNA isolation, PCR, rt-qPCR and Western blot analyses, ELISA, immunoprecipitation.
  • Cell culture studies and single cell tumour isolation as well as flow cytometry.
  • Preclinical mouse tumour studies, as well as breeding and maintenance of genetically modified mouse strains.
  • Bulk RNA-sequencing and single cell RNA sequencing.
  • Statistical analyses, processing, and data presentation.

  • Salary in position as Postdoctoral Fellow, position code 1352 in salary range NOK from 584 500 up to 667 700 per annum depending on competence and experience. From the salary, 2% is deducted in statutory contributions to the State Pension Fund.
