Research Position in Cancer EpiTranscriptomics
5 days ago
Oslo University Hospital, the largest hospital in Norway with over 20,000 employees, is a leading contributor to biomedical research.
We here announce a Researcher position in Epitranscriptomics with project leader Arne Klungland. This lab is part of the Centre for Embryology and Healthy Development (CRESCO), University of Oslo and Oslo University Hospital. CRESCO is a Norwegian Centre of Excellence consisting of an interdisciplinary team of researchers specializing in epigenetic and epitranscriptomic reprogramming, DNA repair and genome (in)stability, and single-cell/nucleotide analysis, with a focus on cancer and embryology.
Research Project Overview:
The project seeks to explore novel and known RNA modifications and their roles and mechanisms in bladder cancer initiation and progression, using state-of-the-art epigenetic/epitranscriptomic methods. These methods allow pioneering insights into oncogenic processes in small samples like bladder cancer biopsies.
We are looking for a skilled Researcher with expertise in epitranscriptomics, RNA-seq and multi-omics data analysis. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with our research team, including molecular biologists as well as external collaborators such as cancer cell and molecular biologists, clinicians, and pathologists. The position is available to start as early as possible in 2025.
Oslo University Hospital is a workplace with great diversity. We believe this is crucial to solving our tasks in the best possible way. We want this diversity to be reflected among the applicants for our positions and encourage all qualified candidates, regardless of background, to apply.
- PhD in epigenetics/epitranscriptomics, embryology, cancer biology, stem cell research, or related field.
- A record of high-quality peer-reviewed international publications.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Proficient in English, with strong written and oral communication skills.
- Experience with transcriptomics/genomics dataset analysis.
Desirable Qualifications:
Knowledge of cancer biology.
- A supportive and stimulating scientific environment for personal academic development.
- Attractive salary according to Oslo University Hospital guidelines, with a full-time contract for three years and potential extensions.
- Access to large, unique datasets and state-of-the-art lab facilities.
- Attractive welfare benefits, a favorable pension plan, and a family-friendly work environment enriched with cultural and outdoor activities in Oslo.
Application Requirements:
- Cover letter detailing motivation and research interests.
- A recent CV including a complete list of scientific publications.
- Copies of educational certificates and grades with explanations of the grading system.
- Two to three reference letters with contact details of the referees.
Interested candidates must apply online and submit the required documents.
