Postdoctoral Research Fellow
Oslo University Hospital, the largest hospital in Norway with over 20,000 employees, is a leading contributor to biomedical research.
We are excited to announce an available Postdoctoral Researcher position in Epitranscriptomics with project leader Yanjiao Li within Arne Klungland Lab. This lab is affiliated with the Centre for Embryology and Healthy Development (CRESCO), University of Oslo. CRESCO is a Norwegian Centre of Excellence consisting of an interdisciplinary team of researchers specializing in epigenetic and epitranscriptomic modifications, DNA repair and genome (in)stability, and single-cell/nucleotide analysis, with a focus on cancer and embryology research.
Research Project Overview:
The project seeks to explore novel RNA modifications and their roles and mechanisms in cancer initiation and progression, utilizing our state-of-the-art epigenetic/epitranscriptomic methods (Nature, 2016; Nature Genetics, 2020; Nature Structural & Molecular Biology, 2023; Nature Biotechnology, 2023). These methods promise groundbreaking insights into oncogenic processes in small samples like early embryos and cancer biopsies. We are looking for a skilled Postdoctoral Researcher with expertise in RNA-seq and multi-omics data analysis. Candidates should be proficient in programming languages such as Python and/or R and have a background in Biology, Computational Biology, or Bioinformatics. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with our team of bioinformaticians, cancer cell and molecular biologists, clinicians, and pathologists.
The position as Postdoctoral Researcher is available for two years, and to start as early as June 2025, with flexible start dates.
Oslo University Hospital is a workplace with great diversity. We believe this is crucial for solving our tasks in the best possible way. We want this diversity to be reflected among the applicants for our positions, and we encourage all qualified candidates, regardless of background, to apply.
Minimum Qualifications:
- PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Statistics, Computer Science, Genetics, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Python and/or R, with a strong understanding of statistics.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Proficient in English, with strong written and oral communication skills.
- Experience with transcriptomics/genomics dataset analysis.
Desirable Qualifications:
- A record of peer-reviewed international publications.
- Knowledge of cancer biology.
- A supportive and stimulating scientific environment for personal academic development.
- Attractive salary according to Oslo University Hospital guidelines, with a full-time contract for two years and potential extensions.
- Access to large, unique datasets and state-of-the-art lab facilities.
- Attractive welfare benefits, a favorable pension plan, and a family-friendly work environment enriched with cultural and outdoor activities in Oslo.
Application Requirements:
- Cover Letter detailing motivation and research interests.
- A recent CV including a complete list of scientific publications.
- Copies of educational certificates and grades with explanations of the grading system.
- Two to three reference letters with contact details of the referees.
Interested candidates should apply online by clicking the link "apply for position", and submit the required documents. Further inquiries can be made here.
