The Department of Psychology is a leading institution in the field of mental health and well-being. Our research focuses on understanding the determinants of good and poor mental health, social inequalities, and designing effective interventions to promote well-being.

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled researcher to work in our team examining antecedents of migrant adaptation to living in receiving societies and examining inequalities in mental health and mechanisms that lead to social marginalization. The successful candidate will analyze large databases of primary studies on cross-cultural adaptation and use large-scale survey data and register data to examine underlying causes for social inequality in mental health.

The researcher will be working in projects examining time patterns of migrant well-being and social adjustment within receiving societies, as well as complex marginalization processes unfolding from adolescence into midlife. The position is dependent on external funding and the length of employment may be extended if funding for an extension is available.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Master's degree in social sciences with a focus on migration and ethnic relations.
  • In-depth understanding of advanced statistics and strong computing skills in Mplus and/or R.
  • Strong skills in longitudinal data analyses and structural equation modeling, including growth curves, random intercept cross-lagged panel models, and latent class analysis.
  • Experience with working with large scale datasets and literature reviews or meta-analyses.
  • Excellent English skills, both orally and in writing, are required.
