Postdoctoral Researcher in Geomechanics

The Norwegian University of Science and Technology is seeking a highly qualified Postdoctoral Fellow to join our research team in the field of geomechanics. The successful candidate will be part of a collaborative project focused on understanding the geomechanical processes associated with injection operations in carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct laboratory experiments to characterize the mechanical properties of rocks and reservoir cores
- Analyze experimental data to extend to numerical simulations, collaborating with Prof. Alexandre Lavrov
- Contribute to the development of a toolbox for assessing the influence of injection-induced stress, pore pressure, and temperature changes on cap rock integrity and within the storage reservoir
- PhD in Geoscience or Engineering, or equivalent foreign doctoral degree recognized as equivalent to a Norwegian PhD
- Strong background in laboratory experiments and numerical modeling
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Documented experience in programming and numerical modeling
- Interest in carbon capture and storage
- Knowledge of shale mechanical properties
- Good written and oral English language skills
- Exciting and stimulating tasks in a strong international academic environment
