Postdoctoral Researcher in Thermodynamics and Porous Media Science

The Norwegian University of Science and Technology is seeking a highly qualified Postdoctoral Fellow to join our research team in the field of thermodynamics and porous media science. This is a temporary position with a duration of 3 years, offering an excellent opportunity to advance your research career and qualify for senior academic positions.
The successful candidate will be part of PoreLab, a research centre of excellence within porous media, and will contribute to the development of theories, principles, tools, and methods to reduce the trial and error approach to porous media. The centre's main goal is to advance the understanding of flow in porous media, with applications in biology, chemistry, geology, and geophysics.
Research FocusThe Postdoctoral Fellow will work within Research Theme 8, which focuses on applying knowledge from previous research themes to design more efficient electrochemical systems, describe moisture migration in insulation materials, enhance the understanding of biological systems, and study porous materials for transport and storage of hydrogen. The candidate will choose a topic that aligns with their interests and qualifications, working under the supervision of Professor Øivind Wilhelmsen.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be expected to:
- Challenge the research frontiers in the nexus between thermodynamics and porous media science
- Write academic papers and submit them to international scientific journals
- Participate in international scientific conferences
To be eligible for this position, you must have completed a Norwegian doctoral degree or a corresponding foreign doctoral degree recognized as equivalent to a Norwegian PhD in thermodynamics or a relevant area. You must also have excellent competence and extensive background in thermodynamics, as well as excellent written and oral skills in English. Programming experience is also highly desirable.
Preferred QualificationsInterest in porous media science and competence in this area are highly valued. The successful candidate should also possess a positive and creative personality, with the ability to work independently and consistently on the research project.
Salary and ConditionsThe appointment is made in accordance with the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund. The salary will be NOK per annum, depending on qualifications and seniority. The period of employment is 3 years.
