Head of Renewable Project Development

Statkraft is a leading company in hydropower internationally and Europe's largest generator of renewable energy. We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled professional to join our team as Head- Project Development.
Job Summary:The Head- Project Development will be responsible for overseeing and managing the end-to-end development of wind, solar, and hybrid projects. This includes identifying project opportunities, conducting feasibility studies, securing land and permits, and ensuring smooth execution by the project team.
Key Responsibilities:- Contribute to strategy development, business plan, and annual plan based on market trends, government policies, land acquisition, and permitting processes.
- Identify potential wind/solar/hybrid project opportunities in identified states and conduct initial assessments to evaluate the feasibility of grid connection and land acquisition/leasing.
- Lead the process selection and on-boarding of development partners (land aggregator, developer, etc.) in line with company policies.
- Oversee land acquisition across all wind/solar/hybrid projects starting from due diligence to negotiations and agreements with landowners or relevant authorities.
- Ensure regular stakeholder engagement at local, state, and central levels.
- Facilitate technical studies, site clearance, and community engagement.
- Oversee approval/permitting processes across all wind/solar/hybrid projects throughout the project lifecycle ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Ensure regular reporting of progress, updating of risk register, and internal communication of risks and mitigation plans.
- Contribute to project planning and internal decision processes to facilitate timely development.
- Actively seek and provide feedback to team members, peers, managers, and prepare, implement, and keep track of development plans for team members in collaboration with HR.
We look for experienced personnel with the essential skills to future-proof our business and renewable energy solutions. The ideal candidate should have:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, renewable energy, business administration, or a related field.
- 15+ years of experience in renewable project development, a large part of which should be with a renewable asset owner company.
- 5+ years of experience in team management.
- Proven expertise in land acquisition and renewable project development in India.
- In-depth knowledge of wind/solar/hybrid project development processes, including site selection and permitting.
- Familiarity with relevant regulatory frameworks and policies in India.
We are looking for a results-driven and able to work under tight deadlines individual with excellent leadership, collaboration, and project management skills. The ideal candidate should also have effective communication skills with stakeholders at all levels, familiarity with wind/solar technologies, equipment, and industry trends, and strong integrity, governance, and ethical compass.What We Offer:
