PhD Researcher in Building Energy Flexibility and Model Predictive Control

About the Role
The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) seeks a highly skilled PhD Candidate to contribute to the development of advanced control systems for sustainable buildings. As a PhD researcher, you will work on defining and deploying a Model Predictive Control (MPC) setup for waterborne heating systems in non-residential buildings.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement an MPC setup for typical waterborne heating systems in non-residential buildings.
- Test and evaluate the performance of the MPC setup in a real building located in Trondheim.
- Document the results and lessons learned from the project.
Requirements
- Master's degree in control, building, or HVAC engineering, or a related field.
- Strong academic background and a minimum average grade of B or better.
- Excellent programming skills, preferably in Python, Julia, or Matlab.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with MPC, data-driven modeling, and building automation.
- Excellent writing and communication skills, with experience in scientific writing and presentations.
