About the Role:

The air freight industry is undergoing a transformative phase, driven by digitalization, e-commerce, and the launch of digital freight marketplaces. Qatar Airways Cargo has introduced its VISION 2027 Roadmap as part of The Next Generation programme, aiming to simplify business engagements and position the company as a leader in the industry. We are seeking talented individuals to support this vision, who will contribute to the development of a true e-commerce experience and the digitalization of the end-to-end value chain.

As a Cargo Operations Officer, you will be responsible for monitoring smooth cargo operations at the station/region, coordinating with Ground Handling Agents (GHAs) and staff within the station. You will continuously monitor and develop adherence to local authorities' and regulatory bodies' regulations, ensuring strict compliance to IATA regulations for effective movement of inbound and outbound cargo while reducing operational costs.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Implementing strategies to enhance services offered while reducing operational unit costs incurred in the region.
  • Monitoring cargo handling in the station and suggesting best practices to be implemented within the region to achieve operational excellence.
  • Implementing, establishing, and monitoring standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with GHAs in the region to ensure smooth cargo operations.
  • Maintaining freighter on-time performance and ensuring no delays occur due to ground operations throughout the delegated region.
  • Minimizing discrepancies and non-conformances to reduce claims and penalties at the respective station, increasing customer satisfaction and reducing carrier liability.
  • Liaising with local Government/Customs Authorities for obtaining permission to comply with regulatory issues related to cargo operations.
  • Ensuring that operations staff/GHA staffs of the station have followed mandatory training requirements and possess valid licenses to handle cargo (DG, LAR) at the respective station.

About You:

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and skills:
  • Relevant College or University qualifications with a minimum of 4 years relevant experience in the airline or freight industry.
  • Load control and Ramp handling courses.
  • Experience in Air cargo management and operational airline functions will be highly desirable.
  • Knowledge in Air Cargo Operations, perishable cargo handling, and Live animal regulations.
  • Detailed knowledge of IATA Cargo handling, IATA Cargo Services Manual, DGR regulations, and other pertinent operational regulations.
  • Good command of English language (Norwegian & Danish is also desirable).
  • Previously demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Experience in project management.
