Job Overview

Norsk Hydro seeks a highly skilled professional to oversee the management of its legacy sites in Norway and Germany. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, and internal requirements, as well as driving the development and maintenance of critical management systems.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the company's sustainability strategic goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of governance frameworks and organizational structures, with the ability to ensure effective delegation and oversight.

The position requires a collaborative and proactive individual who can initiate, organize, execute, and complete projects efficiently, including leading cross-functional teams across departments and organizations, without direct reporting lines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure legacy sites are managed in accordance with laws, regulations, internal requirements, and Norsk Hydro's strategic goals.
  • Conduct risk assessments, implement mitigation plans, and monitor and report risks.
  • Oversee and/or lead cross-functional projects involving internal and external teams.
  • Develop and maintain necessary documentation and prepare internal and external reports.
  • Engage and collaborate with key stakeholders, including local communities, regulators, and auditors.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a relevant field such as ESG Management, Environmental or Sustainability Management, Risk Management, Corporate Governance, or Law.
  • Experience with relevant management standards/frameworks such as Global Industry Standard of Tailings Management (GISTM), ISO 31000, ISO 37301, ISO 55001, ISO 14001.
  • Experience in risk management.
  • Experience in the management of tailings facilities, landfills, or contaminated sites is desirable, but not a requirement.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of relevant experience.
  • Fluency in English, with proficiency in Norwegian or German.
