PhD Candidate in Computational Neuroscience

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented PhD candidate to join our research group at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). The successful candidate will work on developing computational models to determine the mechanisms by which ultraslow oscillations in the medial entorhinal cortex (MEC) are generated and organized into periodic sequences.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement computational models to study ultraslow oscillations in the MEC
- Analyze large-scale neural population recordings to inform model development
- Present research results at national and international conferences
- Complete coursework mandated by the PhD program in neuroscience at NTNU
- Master's degree in Neuroscience, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related subjects
- Strong mathematical background and coding experience
- Excellent communication skills in English
- Meet the requirements for admission to the faculty's doctoral program
- Familiarity with modeling or analysis of large neuronal populations
- Familiarity with neuroscience and prior work in computational neuroscience
- Prior productivity in the field, such as publications, abstracts, or conference proceedings
- Strong personal initiative, self-motivation, and work ethic
- Solution-oriented attitude and ability to work collaboratively
- Ability to accommodate to the team's research strategy and willingness to learn

As a PhD candidate, you will be paid from gross NOK per annum before tax, depending on qualifications and seniority. The period of employment is 3 years.
