PhD Candidate in Environmental Sustainability Analysis

We are seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate to join our research team at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. The successful candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary research environment focused on environmental sustainability analysis.
Job DescriptionThe PhD position is available in the Energy and Environment Group at the Department of Architecture and Technology. The group's research focuses on sustainable built environments, and the successful candidate will contribute to this effort by developing and applying methods for evaluating the environmental consequences of material-efficient solutions for buildings and infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities- Advance the modelling of material-efficiency strategies for a more sustainable built environment.
- Develop and document models for environmental sustainability analysis.
- Analyze geospatially explicit datasets to inform research findings.
- Publish research results in high-quality peer-reviewed journals.
- Present research at international conferences.
- A Master's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Natural Science, Industrial Ecology, Environmental Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Strong academic background and excellent programming skills in one or several languages.
- Excellent written and oral English language skills.
- Strong analytical skills and capabilities, proven through courses and/or thesis deliverables.
- Motivation to work on the topic of environmental sustainability analysis.
- Good understanding of fundamentals in mathematics and physics.
- Experience with data processing and parsing, and an ability to work with large datasets.
- Previous experience with Life Cycle Assessment, Material Flow Analysis, Building Stock Modelling, and/or other environmental sustainability analysis methods.
- Strongly motivated to work on the topic of environmental sustainability analysis.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Self-driven with a strong ability to work independently when required.
- Exciting and stimulating tasks in a strong international academic environment.
