PhD Candidate in Social Anthropology

We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified PhD candidate to join our research group in social anthropology at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team of researchers working on issues related to peatland sustainability, restoration, and environmental change.
Research FocusThe PhD project will focus on ethnographic research on issues surrounding peatland restoration, including the social, cultural, and environmental aspects of peatland management. The candidate will be expected to conduct fieldwork in Norway, collecting data on the experiences and perspectives of people involved in peatland restoration efforts.
Responsibilities- Conduct ethnographic research on peatland restoration and sustainability in Norway
- Collect and analyze data on the social, cultural, and environmental aspects of peatland management
- Participate in the Anthropologies of Sustainability research group at the Department of Social Anthropology
- Teaching duties and other competence building tasks in agreement with the department
- Master's degree in social or cultural anthropology
- Experience with ethnographic fieldwork
- Strong academic background and excellent research skills
- Good written and oral English language skills
- Ability to work independently and in collaboration with others
- Knowledge of environmental anthropology
- Proficiency in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language
